Free Cricket Coaching Session

OBHS Conference

The Ontario Black History Society and the Equity Studies department at New College will present its first annual Leaders of Tomorrow Conference, themed "The Time is Now!" on Friday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at William Doo Auditorium, New College, 45 Willcocks Street. The event will feature a reading, a film excerpt and several speakers. The keynote speaker will be Dr. George J. Sefa Dei, who will discuss the gaps and bridges of learning Black culture in the education system. Registration is free. Refreshments and lunch will be provided with confirmed registration.

Lecture on Indigeneity in T&T

The Caribbean Studies at the University of Toronto will present a lecture titled "The Resurgence of the Caribs, and of Indigeneity, in Trinidad and Tobago" on Wednesday, February 25 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the History Department Seminar Room, Sidney Smith 2098, 100 St. George Street. The lecture will feature Maximilian Forte, Associate Professor, Department of Anthropology, Concordia University.

Caribbean Diabetes Chapter Meeting

The Caribbean Diabetes Chapter of the Canadian Diabetes Association will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 24, at the Anglican Church of the Nativity, 10 Sewells Road (east of Neilson, north of Sheppard Ave.) at 6:30 p.m. The topic is "Diabetes & High Blood Pressure." Dr. Tobe of Sunnybrook Hospital will be the guest speaker. Admission and parking is free. The Anglican Church of the Nativity can be accessed by taking the Neilson bus #133 or Nugget bus #131.

Bob Marley Day Celebration at U of T

The Association of Part-Time Undergraduate Students at the University of Toronto invites all to celebrate "Bob Marley Day" on Saturday, February 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the APUS Programming Office, 100 Devonshire Place (South of Bloor/West of Bedford St. at St. George subway station).

The event, held on what would have been the reggae icon's 65th birthday, will feature food and music. Come prepared to share by reciting or singing the lyrics of your favourite Bob Marley song.

Scholarship Presentation Seminar

Share the Blessings Day

The Ethiopian Orthodox Church in Canada Medhane Alem is inviting all to take part in "Share the Blessings Day", on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25 at 23 Denison Road East, (South of Lawrence, East of Weston Rd., next to CP Rail train tracks) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is being held to share blessings with neighbours, friends and the less fortunate. During the event, church members will give away 500 cups of soup. After 4 p.m., attendees can stay and enjoy food, games, music and camaraderie.
