Jesus in the City Parade

The 11th annual Jesus in the City Parade will be held on Saturday, September 11, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Held to spread a message of love, joy, peace and hope among members of churches representing a variety of denominations and ethnic groups, the parade will feature live bands on floats, Biblical costumes and dancers. The parade will begin at Queen's Park, and will proceed along Bloor St., Yonge St., College St. and return to Queen's Park. Following the parade, a concert will be held in Queen's Park.

Eva Smith Bursary

Since 1985, The Eva Smith Bursary has provided financial aid for African Canadian students, the justice system and single parents.

To celebrate its 25th year of supporting youth, the Bursary is calling on all past committee members, volunteers, awardees, community service awardees and friends of Eva Smith to share their experiences.

The Bursary is also seeking volunteers to assist with fundraising, web design and public relations. High school, college and university students are welcome to volunteer.

Albion Sidewalk Sale

The Albion Centre, located at 1530 Albion Road (Kipling Avenue between Albion Road and Finch Avenue), is currently hosting a summer sidewalk sale until Sunday, August 1.

Girls in Transition Initiative

The Congress of Black Women of Canada, Ontario Region, is seeking young Black women between the ages of 13 to 18 for inclusion in their Girls in Transition Initiative, which will be held at Blessed Mother Teresa Catholic Secondary School, 40 Sewells Road. The program will be held on Thursday, July 22 and Friday, July 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The initiative seeks to foster the development of organizational, leadership, self-esteem, communication and academic, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills. It will include guest speakers and presentations. Participants will also have the opportunity to make new friends. The program is free and food and supplies are provided.
