When Linda talks about her foster children, she sounds very much like the proud mother, sharing success stories from more than 20 years of fostering abused children for the Catholic Children's Aid Society of Toronto.

Anita's story can be included in these successes. Before meeting Linda, 12-year-old Anita was living in a group home, feeling alone and out of sorts. Anita didn't feel she belonged at home, because she'd been abused by her father. She had never felt she belonged anywhere.

(NC)-RRSP season can be a confusing time for even the most sophisticated of investors. Here are the top three questions Canadians are asking this RRSP season:

In these uncertain times, why should I consider investing in an RRSP?

For most people, making an RRSP contribution makes great sense, even during tough times. RRSPs let you save money by earning income on a tax-deferred basis until you retire. For many, they can act as a substitute to a pension plan and ensure future goals are met.

(NC)-If you are drawn to adventurous types, do market fluctuations also give you a thrill? Or, if you married your high school sweetheart, do you stash money in reliable savings accounts?

Patricia Lovett-Reid, Senior Vice President, TD Waterhouse and relationship therapist Joe Rich, M.S.W, R.S.W, team-up to provide Canadians with insight into love and money.

Starting January 1, 2010, 93 per cent of Ontario's income tax payers will get a permanent tax cut as part of a comprehensive tax plan that will help create 591,000 jobs and make the province more attractive for new business investment.

(NC)-According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, too much cholesterol in your blood can raise the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. LDL cholesterol in your blood can build up in your arteries and cause them to narrow. Eventually, cholesterol build-up can completely block an artery resulting in potentially serious heart disease.

It's important to regularly check your cholesterol levels. If you've never been checked before, or if it's been a while since your last visit to the doctor, schedule an appointment with your family physician to get your cholesterol levels tested. Once you know what your cholesterol level is, you can work with your doctor to lower scores that are above average, or proactively maintain healthy cholesterol levels and reduce your risk.

'Fashion Cares', which was held last November, was a resounding success - both critically and in its goal of raising much-needed funds for the programs and services of the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT).

Unlike previous years when the event was held in the spring, Fashion Cares was shifted to the fall to allow more time to plan and execute the show.
