Canada loses to Sri Lanka “A”

Canada dropped a two-match 50-overs series to Sri Lanka "A" in preparation for a four-nation Twenty/20 tournament next week and the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup qualifier in the United Arab Emirates.
Middle-order batsman Trevin Bastiampillai scored 33 off 78 balls and Umar Bhatti hit 34 as Canada crawled to 175-9 in its 50 overs. Sri Lanka "A", which included several Test players including Tharanga Paranavitana and Farveez Maharoof, reached the target in the 33rd over for the loss of just four wickets.
Canada’s Under-20 women in sight of World Cup

Canada will tackle Mexico in the semi-final of the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Associations of Football (CONCACAF) Under-20 women's tournament in Guatemala today.
The national side finished at the top of its group with a 3-1 win over the host country, a 2-0 victory over Cuba and a 1-0 win over Costa Rica.
The United States, which also won all its group matches, will oppose Costa Rica in the other semi-final. The Americans beat Mexico 2-1 and shut out Caribbean teams Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica 4-0 and 6-0 respectively.
T & T squeezed past Jamaica 1-0 last Sunday for its only victory while the Reggae Girls were winless.
Lionel Eli wants to see more youth take up tennis

In the 18 years Lionel Eli has been the tennis director at Tam Heather Curling & Tennis club, 23 young people - 15 of them of Caribbean heritage - have secured scholarships to attend American universities.
With last October's completion of a new state-of-the-art, four-court year-round covered tennis structure, Eli hopes that the club will attract more players from the diverse Scarborough neighbourhood.
