Caribbean, Canada unite in dance

Dancers from Trinidad and Canada will come together for OMO Dance Company's three-part dance and drama, The Diary of an Exile, being presented at Artwood Theatre, March 9 through 13.

Trinidadian dancers Khadine Afri-Binta Daisley, Lorraine Dookie, Michael Augustine and OMO members Tal Aronson, Melissa Bettio, Caitlin Cullimore, Naomi Lebel, Paul Raposo, Almond Small as well as OMO director and choreographer, Trinidadian native, Anthony Guerra, take to the Artwood stage this trilogy based on the poems of Guyana-native h.jay bunyan.

Part One of this dance/theatre trilogy follows a man's search for peace among the tumultuous characters around him; Part Two examines the death of a relationship and the consequences for a man, a woman and a cat; and Part Three looks at man's need for spirituality and his search for meaning in terms of his own life.

Choreography for this presentation was created by Debbie Wilson and is complemented by the original music of Lilia Silveira.

Part One of The Diary of an Exile will play March 9, at 8 p.m., and repeats on March 12 and 13 at 2 p.m. Proceeds from Part One will benefit the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. Part Two will play March 10 at 8 p.m. and repeat March 12 and 13 at 4 p.m. Part Three will be performed March 11 at 8 p.m. and repeat March 12 and 13 at 8 p.m.
